Komarac Stop - An App to Ward Off Mosquitoes
Komarac Stop is an Android app developed by Aleksandar Milinkovic, falling under the category of Lifestyle, and subcategory of Health & Fitness. The app is based on the theory that a female mosquito, after laying eggs, actively avoids any further contact with males. This is done by recognizing the vibration of male wings, which allegedly differ from those of females. Therefore, as soon as the female mosquito recognizes the sound as the vibration of male wings, it moves away from that area.
However, since there are 3500 species of mosquitoes in the world, not all males produce sound at the same frequency. Therefore, the app offers the option of adjusting the frequency to find the appropriate one.
Using the app is extremely simple. Just select the desired frequency and press the "Stop them!" button to activate the sound that simulates the sound of male wings. To stop the sound, click on the same button you clicked to start it (except that it now reads "Turn off, they've fled!").
